If your curtain rod isn’t mounted yet, it’s best to do that first. Measuring from the top of the rod to the floor is the most common approach. For curtains that don’t touch the floor, subtract 1 inch from your measurement. Prefer a more dramatic look? Add 2-4 inches for curtains that puddle on the floor. For an even more opulent effect, add 6-8 inches for a luxurious pool on the floor.
Always measure from the TOP of the rod to the desired endpoint, whether it’s the bottom of the window frame, the top of a heater, or just above a piece of furniture.
Custom lengths ensure each panel fits your needs perfectly.
We recommend measuring twice to ensure accuracy. If you don’t see your required length in our dropdown, please contact us at ayushi@thedecorpalette.co | WhatsApp.
#2 - width
Width helps determine the number of panels and the desired fullness.
All our panels are 52 inches wide. For standard windows (24-48 inches), we recommend using two panels, one on each side.
For wider windows, especially if you plan to close the curtains, you should aim to cover twice the width of the window.
Example:
For a window width of 72 inches:
Multiply by 2 (for fullness) = 144 inches
Divide 144 inches by 52 inches (width of each panel) = 2.7
